You’d think most children today love to listen to current music. But this girl not so much. A lot of the music from this century I do love but I love the music from the last century so much more. I’m going to tell you how I started to love it and the artists I love!

The people who got me liking the music is my mom, grandma and some of the Black radio stations. My granny was born in the 50′s so of course whenever she can get her hands on a radio she will play some good old school music! When she plays that music I get into such a happy mood that I start dancing or I start to cry because the song was so emotional for me. Also my mom got me into old school music as well. She was born in the 70′s and that was a great decade for music! She mostly had music from the 80′s and 90′s and I love it so much I just can’t stop dancing. Even the rap music was ten times better than it is now back then and the R&B music too! Without Black radio stations I wouldn’t be able to hear half of this great music. So thank you!

The list of artists I love goes on and on but I will name as many I can. Artists like, Spice Girls, Destiny’s Child,TLC, James Brown, The Temptatons,The Supremes,The Jackson 5/The Jacksons, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Michael Jackson, Donna Summer, Gloria Gaynor, Xscape, Aaliyah, Jade, Faith Evans, Roger Troutman, Tupac, Notrious B.I.G., Missy Elliot,Shanice Wilson, Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, Cyndi Lauper,Sam Cooke, Earth Wind and Fire and many more that can’t come to mind!

I love the 20th century. Sometimes I wish that I was born back then. Not just because of the music but also because things were cheaper and there were great movies! I’m actually happy that I was born in the 21st century, but listening to music from the 20th century is my escape and it makes me feel so safe.

I glad that I’m able to listen to this music and I’ll treasure it forever!
